Welcome to the website for the North Worcestershire communities of Stoke Heath, Stoke Pound, Stoke Prior and Stoke Works.
This website aims to provide information about the work and activities of Stoke Parish Council. The Parish Council is the first tier of statutory elected Local Government, supported by Bromsgrove District Council and Worcestershire County Council. Whilst we have a close working relationship with these bodies, we have an element of sovereignty and are not directly answerable to these higher tiers of administration.
The Council comprises twelve elected or co-opted Councillors who are usually in office for four years between statutory elections. They receive neither remuneration nor expenses, serving the community on a voluntary basis. The Councillors elect from among their number a Chairman and Vice-Chairman who serve in that capacity for one year. The Council officially employs a Clerk as their statutory Proper Officer, who administers the Council's business, and advises on all matters of procedure and legal affairs. The Clerk is also the Responsible Financial Officer, a position defined in law.
You may not be aware, especially those of you who do not receive a Bromsgrove Advertiser, that Bromsgrove District Council are carrying out a consultation regarding the District Plan. This consultation covers things such as housing and bus routes, both of which are important issues for our parish, plus many other topics. If you wish to make any comments then you have until 19th November to do so, please click on the links below to take you to the document that was briefed to the Parish Council at our 5th November meeting or for accessing the Response Form (external link).
